Educational Background (Pre-College)

Stan Jones was born on November 29, 1933 in Westwood, California. Moved to Reno, Nevada where he completed Elementary and High School Education, graduating from Reno High School in 1952.

Armed Service and Post High School Education

After High School, Stan spent several years in the Naval Reserve including two years in active service as a Mineman. Honorably discharged, he attended the University of Nevada full time. Stan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a ranking in the upper five percent of the Class of 1959.
Stan accepted employment at Bell Telephone Research Laboratories where he worked days and spent four years in night school to obtain a Law Degree from Seton Hall School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. Stan graduated with the highest cumulative score for the night class, and second overall for combined day and night students.
Legal Training and Experience

Training in the art of writing patent applications was obtained in the Patent Department of Bell Telephone Research Laboratories between 1959 and 1963. He then accepted an associate position with the California-based Law firm of Christie, Parker & Hale. Stan was admitted to the California Bar in June, 1964, and then passed the requirements for admission to practice as a Registered Patent Attorney before the United States Patent Office, obtaining Registration Number 22,659 in 1965.

Stan participated in the California and U.S. Supreme Court cases of Adkins vs. Lear, and has extensive Federal Court litigation. Patent prosecution clients included-Burroughs, Bell & Howell, Lear Siegier, Cal-Tech, NASA, and Jet Propulsion Labs. In 1968, Stan co-founded the law firm of Jackson & Jones and specialized in patent and patent-related antitrust law in California for over twenty-one years. Stan, in 1990, sold his stock in that firm to the remaining co-founder in settlement of an internal personal dispute.
Specializing in Intellectual Property Law, Stan has over thirty years experience in a relatively balanced mix of Patent, Trademark and Copyright prosecution and patent-related litigation. His litigation experience includes court appearances in numerous Federal Courts in the United States, Great Britain and Australia. Involved in the AT&T antitrust litigation, Stan was designated by Judge Greene to represent the public and the Independent Data Communication Manufacturers Association ("IDCMA") during the Tunney hearings in Washington D.C. Those hearings ultimately lead to the divestiture of the Bell System.

Currently licensed by, and an active member of the State Bar Association of California, Stan continues in Private Practice in offices located in Hallowell, Maine. Although a liasion officer of the Rutherford Institute for Religious Freedom and Family Issues, Stan's private practice is limited to Patents, Trademarks and Copyright matters.
