The Alzheimer's Association is a non-profit, stand-alone organization that advocates and helps all people who are involved in the disease process or care of people suffering with dementia illnesses. The St. George office is a part of the Utah Chapter of the National Alzheimer's Association whose headquarters are in Salt Lake City. Our St. George Utah office serves the five southwestern counties of Utah. The office is staffed with one full-time Regional Manager who serves all five counties. Our volunteer Advisory Board consists of professionals from the health-care, business, government and private sectors of our community. The Regional Manager of the Utah Chapter along with trained volunteers provide the following services to the community: 1. Education - Armed with a file cabinet of educational pamphlets and fact sheets we are prepared to provide free information to callers, support groups, volunteers and healthcare workers. Paid services involve corporate training, Maintain Your Brain workshop, or an indepth Professional Caregiver program for facilities. We are available to speak at meetings, conferences and do trainings. 2. Referral - We do personal consultations with many people who call in with questions and challenges of caring for their loved one. Help has been given to help families receive respite, medical care, family mediation for a care plan, and placement. 3. Fundraising - Memory Walks, Galas and other events help raise funds to support our office and to fund research. We are very close to finding a cure, a vaccine, and more.
