Join our naturalist for a foray into the world of edible (and not-so-edible) plants of southern Utah. We will learn how to identify plants in the field and the history of edible plant usage among Zion area Native Americans and pioneers. Learn why “if it looks good in the desert, you probably shouldn’t eat it!” The group will examine plants from desert trumpet to miner’s lettuce. The instructor will also discuss the ethics and legalities of wild plant collection. We’ll share some historic recipes and do up to 8 miles of moderately paced hiking. Limited to 11 participants.
