Details: It has often been said that each rise in elevation of 1,000 feet is equivalent to traveling 600 miles towards the poles in terms of plant and animal communities encountered. In this second of a two part sequence, join us as we travel from the mid-elevation shrub communities at the Kolob District of Zion National Park, through mountain forests and meadows of Cedar Breaks, and finally, to the alpine tundra at Brian Head. We will stop and take short walks through representative examples of each community type and discuss the natural history of the characteristic organisms.
